November 20 - HARRISON KENNEDY BAND
It was another memorable
BLUES ON THE RIDEAU @ THE COVE INN night
last Friday. HARRISON KENNEDY came up
from “The Hammer” with a
full band and proceeded to blow the
house away with a wonderful mix of tunes
from Mississippi blues to Motown R&B
- and just about everything in between.
Best known for his superb acoustic, roots blues we got a taste of his former career as lead singer for the famous Detroit R&B band “Chairmen Of The Board” back in the ‘70’s when he sang some hits from that era as well. He started the night with a couple of solo tunes from his new CD “One Dog Barkin’” (nominated for a Maple Blues Award this year) that captivated the audience as they digested their delicious Cove meal – then kicked in with the full band bringing everyone up on the dance floor. A sweaty, enjoyable, wonderful time was had by all! In between songs he treated us to some great stories. The crowd got an added treat when once again the talented Innkeeper twins, Seamus and Jeff Cowan (drums and bass) put down their waiters’ trays and got up on stage for a couple of songs, stepping in like regulars – to loud applause from all. |
